Wedding Photography tips

Being asked to be the photographer for a wedding is a big responsibility.If you’ve been approached to do it as a friend, or maybe asked to do it as a professional, here are 5 great tips to do the job right.

This tips are coming from first hand experience as a San Diego wedding photographer.You could be a seasoned pro, or you could be an amateur, but by following these tips, you will do the job smoothly without second guessing yourself.  You will be fully prepared for whatever may come.

Our first tip is easy and that is to have the couple and maybe their families make a list of photos they want to take.  When the day is hectic and chaotic, this will help immensely when you are trying to get family and group shots later on in the day.You will love how you can just go through your list and get all the shots you want without leaving anything out.

The second tip on our list is to not delete any shots.  In this day and age of digital cameras, most photographers use them.Great as they are, they might tempt you to delete a shot they may like that you don’t since it is so easy to do.Don’t bother even peeking at the previews.Remember, what you think is a great shot, could be vastly different than what the couple thinks is a great shot.You know what, they might like all those un “professional” shots you take.

A third tip to consider is making sure you get candid shots.  A good wedding photographer will not just try and get the typical shots, like family group shots, wedding party shots, or your standard bride and groom.  But they will also try and capture the emotions of the day through the shots of all the people that were there.It could include things that don’t go perfectly, like a flower girl not wanting to walk down the aisle or the ring bearer making a wrong turn.  Every shot counts.

The fourth one to consider, and something that can easily be overlooked is to make sure you have several cameras with several lenses as backup.Do you even want to think of the horror of not being able to take any more shots of the wedding because of a broken camera.Plan for the worst that could go wrong.By being prepared for the worst and bringing extra cameras and equipment you will avoid the horrible moment fo not having any working cameras to capture the rest of the wedding. day.

Finally, practice your lighting as well. Don’t get thrown a curveball by the different lighting conditions whether inside the church or outside, practice and you will be prepared. Go see the locations and scout it out for the big day, by finding the best places to shoot as well as studying the lighting needs.

Doing these 5 tips will help you immensely.  It will prepare you for whatever might go wrong, it will prepare you for capturing what goes right, and it will prepare you to help contribute to this wonderful day by being the best photographer you can be.  Take it from my years of experience as a San Diego photographer.

I was reading an article the other day talking about television networks and their advertising revenues when I came across this interesting fact.

The 2 most popular outdoor sports are not football, baseball, or soccer, and obviously it’s not basketball, either since those events are held mainly indoors. Stats about how many people attend events and how many are directly involved are part of how they measure this popularity f.for.These sports are outdoors, not like basketball. Outdoors.

The first of the 2 most popular outdoor activities or sports is birding, or birdwatching.How is birding a sport? For the most part there are no teams playing against each other. It is individual one person against nature .  Birding is similar to fishing as a sport because there are bird spotting and bird identification competitions.

Birding is such a low-cost hobby or sport that you would be stunned to learn how many people are birdwatching these days.  One last thing I want to mention about the expenses involved in this sport is that many birders invest in a quality pair of bird binoculars to get the most out of their birdwatching trips.

The second most popular sport is Nacar Racing and this amazed me when I read this fact.What makes this so popular? There are lots of NASCAR events all over the country and thousands of fans go to NASCAR events.

It would take 5 or 6 sold out games at Fenway Park to equal the attendance of one popular Nascar event.No wonder NASCAR is listed as one of the top two outdoor sports activities.

You Can Jump Higher

ANYONE can increase their vertical jump and learn how to jump higher!

The key is learning the role your body type plays. Age, gender, race e.t.c., do not play as important a role. You need to do an assessment of your own individual response to certain exercise routines, as this varies from person to person. just assigning you a list of exercises just doesn’t cut it if you want to really jump higher…you NEED a cycle based on exercises for your given body type, concentrating on your weaknesses. These exercises should cycle from Strength to Explosiveness to Plyometrics.

Basic Steps To Get Started

1. Assess your current level of fitness and your level of experience with previous types of training. The most effective way to get gains is to construct a brand new strength foundation. After this start utilizing an explosion phase. This will result in further inches.
2. Practice Lifts. Total body conditioning is the key for such an athlete and there is no better exercise than the full back squat. This provides you with progressive increases on spinal loading, which, in turn, stabilizes you under tension, and also improves stretch-response of both hamstrings and hip muscles.
3. Root the squat centrally within most of your lower body workouts. 6-8 quality lifts gets the best strength developments and vertical carryover. For the upper body days, use the same philosophy, with the core exercises being bench press, overhead press variations, pull-ups and dips. Remember to work often overlooked muscles at the end of the workout – muscles such as hip flexors, the shins , transverse abdominals e.t.c.
4. Make sure to use a lifting technique in a safe and effective manner. Undergo 3-5 week strength cycles for upper and lower body. Done correctly, visible gains of 5+% on each lift should be apparent weekly. Following this, you will start to envision how your jump is bound to increase.
5. Correctly use explosive and plyometric training as well as your strength training. These are your “field workouts” and are completed before your weight exercises. That is, on Day 1 you begin by engaging in a series of tempo runs, sprints and low-intensity plyometrics (after the proper warm-up of course). By the time Phase 3 comes around, this will have gradually lessened to shorter tempo runs, overspeed (downhill) sprints and high-intensity plyos.
6. Emphasis on the heavier weights should fade as you progress through the phases.
7. Visualization is important – imagine yourself exploding upwards. Visualize yourself with large leg muscles that are coiled like springs, ready to blast you up into the air. Say to yourself “I feel myself getting more powerful and much lighter.” Then jump again. You should observe a noticeable increase in your vertical leap. (Sports psychologists have long recognized the effectiveness of “mental practice” in increasing athletic performance.)

You Can Jump Higher By Training Less

Are you serious about your vertical jump training?

Correct training to increase your vertical leap is very COUNTER INTUITIVE.

The vertical jump is an explosive act caused by the intense contraction of fast twitch muscle fibers.  Because of this, vertical jump training should be “anaerobic.”  All too often athletes train in a way that that is mostly “aerobic”.

What is the difference in training?

Basketball players have been told that long distance running would increase their vertical. This is huge mistake. Running long distances like that can make your vertical jump to shrink.

Sprinting, like jumping is a much less aerobic exercise.  Do you see sprinters running the 2 mile run as part of their training for sprinting? NEVER! Then why do so many vertical jump programs have us PACING ourselves during our vertical jump training workouts?

NEVER NEVER NEVER PACE YOURSELF FOR TRAINING YOUR VERTICAL JUMP!

Maybe you have also seen these before. Athletes running up and down stairs or out of breath from doing speed ladder drills. Or maybe you jump rope for 20 minutes and you are worn out.. you are going to say to yourself, “Now that was tough, surely that will help my vertical.”

This is not explosive training, so they are NOT going to be able to improve explosive actions. I assure you, they will be disappointed. You must train explosively and not endurance to improve your vertical leap.

“Explosive” training will feel awkward at first.  You won’t get the same burn as training aerobically.  In some ways explosion traing is easier, it just requires much more focus and short term effort.

Get Clearer Windows With These Window Cleaning Tips

On the surface, window cleaning seems like a pretty easy job.Ask any teen to do your window cleaning, for pay, and they will gladly jump at the chance to make some money. But the big problem you’ll find, is once they do it, they will probably tell you they won’t ever do that again. Now the challenge when cleaning the windows is not the actual work involved, it’s how and when you do it, and what tools you are going to use.  Take it from my years as a San Diego Window cleaning company, if you want someone to enjoy cleaning your windows, or if you want to do it yourself, keep some of these tips below in mind.

If you wash your windows when the sun is directly on them, you will soon realize that this makes ugly streaks that don’t seem to go away no matter how many times you clean them! It is frustrating, but knowing something as simple as when to wash them like when the sun passes by and is not shining on the window, or when it is so hot, can you save you a lot of time and frustration.

Some San Diego window washing tips that take the frustration and hassle out of window cleaning are:

The way you hold the squeegee matters!

When holding the squeegee, make sure you’re angling it in the direction of the water flow. If the water is running down to your feet, move the squeegee sideways causing the water being squeegeed to go down to the part you haven’t cleaned yet. If you’re on a rooftop for example and the down angle is above your head, squeegee forward again so the water flows to the part not yet touched. If you go against the flow water will build up and flow out the sides of the squeegee causing streaks.

Wiping the blade is important!

Some people will be tempted to squeegee the entire window without even considering to wipe the blade until the end. This never has worked well and it will cause a streak by the water that is left on the blade. Every time you go to get that (which is twice in the same spot essentially) you cause another streak.Wiping after each stroke the blade will avoid this problem completelyand get the window cleaned much faster without retracing steps.

Overlap the streaks

After every stroke, make the next stroke overlap (about an inch into the dry area) and make your next stroke. If you are pointing the squeegee to make the water fall downward to the part of the window that is wet and you are drying the blade after every stroke, you won’t make
an additional streak that you have to go back over. Never try to squeegee right on the line, this could cause splash up into the dry area and is counter productive.

Use plenty of water

If you don’t use plenty of water, you will cause yourself a hard time by making the strokes more dificult rather than smooth strokes with the squeegee. be generous with your water use and always if you can, use sideway strokes on the water that is dripping down towards the wet part of the glass.
